THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

As a photographer drawn to the natural world, coming to terms with the built environment has been a challenge. Over the years I have come to view cities and their infrastructure as threats to an ever-increasing frail ecological balance, and I have viewed the growing sprawl of urbanity as banal and vile. In being so myopic, I failed to see the subtle beauty in the shapes and contours that are juxtaposed within a context of natural scenery. Such contrasts hold a wonderment that I can now appreciate.
