MOTHS AND BUTTERFLIEs – LEPIDOPTERA

One thing I learned in the process of photographing Lepidoptera is that moths are sadly under-appreciated. We seem to learn as children that butterflies are “nature’s beauties” and that moths are just those brown and dull winged creatures that fly around our outside lights at night. In looking closer they reveal so much more about themselves. And we tend to put “caterpillars” into one homogenous category. Each “caterpillar” is unique and reveals the butterfly or moth it will eventually become.
