DRAGONFLIES AND DAMSELFLIES – ODONTA
Dragonflies seem to have a certain symbolic mystique these days. They are spiritual icons and revered as harbingers of some kind of awakening or good fortune. With my macro lens I have seen dragonflies eat their prey alive. They are ruthless and hungry and violent. They are flying contradictions, as are we, I suppose. Perhaps that is at the bottom of our cultural fascination with them. We are beautiful in the sunlight and reflect vibrant colors yet we need to eat other living things to stay alive. We have a dark side just like the dragonflies. But maybe saying that it is “dark” is too severe. It is just another side.
